We are celebrating 5 years! #5kebyart
This 2019-20 season we celebrate our 5th anniversary. During these first years of life, we have had an intense activity that has been translated into more than 120 national concerts, 34 abroad, 9 awards in international prizes and the commissioning of new works to composers.
With the intention of sharing this happy moment, last December 12th we celebrated it with a very special event at the Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm. With more than 200 people in the audience and the collaboration of Estrella Damm, Cataluña Música and Jorquera Pianos we were able to review our trajectory and present the new lines of action for the coming years. All conducted by the journalist and friend Xavier Chavarria.
For the occasion, we had very special musicians with whom we shared the stage. We were very happy to play again with our first tenor saxophone player, Nahikari Oloriz, to open the event. Also participating in the party were pianist Albert Guinovart, with whom we started a new musical collaboration, and Laura Ruiz, artistic director at DeltaChamber Music Festival.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers who participated in the event and to the public who joined us for a fantastic evening. Thank you!
Thus, this celebration season represents a turning point that will be reflected in the following lines of action:
The presentation of the new musical project "Lectures différentes", the backbone of the future, which will take the form of a new program for future concerts, the second album of the ensemble, as well as the first video clip, Schubertiade, produced by Kebyart and the production company Qué Rico Mambo! and which will be officially released in early 2020. The concept "Lectures Différentes" gives its name to the only saxophone quartet of the prestigious composer Peter Eötvös and expresses the idea of offering a new reading of a pre-existing material. Thus, a renewed look through the saxophone quartet, a formation for the 21st century.
New collaborations with top musicians. As it is often said, music is for sharing and, in this sense, the Kebyarts have initiated a series of new musical relationships with the following artists: the Hungarian pianist Dénes Várjon, the countertenor Xavier Sabata, the composer and pianist Albert Guinovart and, finally, the clarinetist Laura Ruiz.
The stabilization of the pedagogical aspect of the quartet. One of the main objectives of Kebyart is to consolidate the various training initiatives promoted: the summer course Academia Mestral in the province of Tarragona, the collaboration project with the ESMUC manifested in the direction of the saxophone ensemble of the classroom, and the realization of master classes to conservatories and centers such as the IEA Oriol Martorell.
The impulse of the internationalization process of the group with the debut in prestigious halls such as the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Stadtcasino in Basel, as well as other performances in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Malta.
And finally, a renewed image that will be based on a strong commitment to audiovisual content, continuity in the commitment to newly created music by carrying out new commissions to international composers, and the intention to start the edition and publication of some of the arrangements made by Kebyart during all these years.
In short, we are very excited about many new developments that we hope to share with all of you in the coming months!
